Editorial Design II. Newspapers and Publications

How to put design at the service of generating a new newspaper

One of Angelgráfico’s premises in corporate identity design is that the brand and all the media and applications developed are a perfect combination of creativity and design that reflects the values and philosophy of each company. And in the case of media developed based on a corporate identity, we always add clarity and functionality, prioritizing the purpose of the media and using design as a differentiating value.

Our corporate identity design service includes all types of editorial design, such as catalogs, brochures, books, and magazines, always developing new concepts that strengthen the brand’s relationship with clients and/or consumers.

Thus, newspaper design is a service we always implement under these axes, such as, for example, the design of Picassent’s new municipal newspaper: L’informatiu de Picassent.

This is a new municipal newspaper that focuses on a print format to keep citizens informed.

Since the objective of newspaper design is strictly informative, we used grids to prioritize and organize the communicative elements. We also gave greater importance to typographic elements, font sizes and sizes, and to the harmony in the composition of all the elements that make up the newspaper.

Design of the Picassent municipal newspaper

Newspaper design

This is a clear example of putting design at the service of the medium’s objective, in this case, to inform citizens about municipal news, creating a product that is easy to use and clear and simple to read. All of this is based on a design based on the classic newspaper structure, in which traditional newspaper components such as the masthead, typography, and color reflect the identity of Picassent City Council.

With this new municipal communication medium, Picassent revives the tradition of reading a paper newspaper, without neglecting the current situation by also creating a digital version. Therefore, we have left no detail unresolved, and even the masthead is designed to allow integration into the digital newspaper.

Thus, with this modern and functional design, Picassent offers citizens the opportunity to stay informed about the most relevant municipal news both in print and online, while always respecting the City Council’s corporate identity and generating a strong sense of belonging and community.
