Social media is a tool available to businesses and professionals through which we can communicate and achieve our goals.
Currently, companies use this tool as a communication channel, but we must not forget that it is just one more tool to add to our communication strategy.
Although we already know that algorithms don’t show all our content and that advertising campaigns are necessary, it is also true that properly managed social media can be a powerful communication and customer attraction tool.
But how can we communicate effectively on social media?
Before reaching this point, we must remember, as we explained in another article on our website, that absolutely everything a company does or says is part of its communication.
Therefore, a good communication strategy is necessary, including brand identity, a website, qualitative and quantitative objectives, the development of a buyer persona, and a clear intention, a “why.”
This strategy should be reflected in a communication plan that defines which social networks we want to address, who our target audience will be, how we will address that audience, and why.

Effective corporate communication
In our article, The Importance of Honesty in Corporate Communication, we lay the foundation for effective communication. Because without honesty, there is no paradise.
And from here, we can offer some tips for communicating effectively on social media:
- Be present only on the networks where your target audience is located. You already know that sometimes less is more, and if you’re on every network, your message will be scattered. Creating a good buyer persona will unequivocally define your social networks.
- Choose how you want to engage with your audience, what kind of relationship you want to build. But always, make it one-on-one. The relationship is always between two people: the person communicating and the person receiving it. And every person who reads your post deserves your full respect and attention.
- Publish only quality content. No matter what the algorithm says, your community will appreciate it if you only post when you have something interesting to say. And that honesty will translate into loyalty.
- Enthrall your audience, make them smile, improve their social media experience, and add value to their lives.
- Empathize. Before publishing a post, think about what you would like to read, what information you would like to receive from your favorite brand. Give others what you would like to receive.
- Don’t copy. You don’t need to. Create your own style, your way of telling things, go beyond robots, zeros, and ones. Be authentic.
- Follow the rules of each network to get a good rating and be considered a quality content creator, but don’t go crazy. You already know that quality and quantity don’t always go hand in hand.
- Don’t post the same information on all networks. Lack of time sometimes leads us to make this mistake, but each network’s audience is different and has different interests. That’s why the next point is so important.
- Listen. It’s essential to learn to listen to others, to our audience, to those who love us and those who hate us. Because they all give us valuable information that we can use for our own benefit and that of our community.
- Balance. Everything in this world has two sides. Social media does too. Therefore, it’s essential to accept their rules and consequences and strike a balance between our goals and our way of communicating.
